A Winchester school held a grand opening (Sat 13 May) for a new sensory garden to help its students.
Shepherds Down Special School in Compton has created the space for pupils using £30,000 from a number of local firms.
The students at the school on Shepherds Lane have a variety of special needs including severe learning and physical difficulties.
The facility means the pupils can get involved with growing, smelling and touching all sorts of plants and shrubs.
The launch event was celebrated with and English tea for around 50 invited guests, including Steve Brine who officially opened the garden.
Steve says; "Every school has its challenges and Shepherds Down does more than most but it's got the biggest heart and this garden is so very special. As well as being a sensory garden to help the children, it's a memory place for those who have left us. The whole day was very moving and I look forward to seeing the garden mature and grow."
