The event was organised by the Students' Union, and was advertised on campus prior to the event, giving students the opportunity to hear from the Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP, and some of the other candidates, as well as take up their opportunity to register to vote.
The SU used the tagline #GenerationVote, and the chair, Vice Chancellor Joy Carter, directed questions on subjects including the recent mitochondrial vote in the House of Commons, tuition fees and British values to the panel.
Speaking afterwards, Steve Brine said: "Many thanks to the Students' Union for organising this event which I enjoyed a great deal. I really hope students in Winchester will register vote and take part in this election. I suspect they will be disappointed with the numbers attending but no-one can control that and the quality of the questions more than made up for that."
The panel consisted of Steve Brine (Conservative) and Mark Chaloner (Labour), as well as candidates representing the Green Party and the Liberal Democrat Party. Sadly, the UKIP candidate did not attend.
