Steve Brine has welcomed news that his campaign to introduce part-time rail season tickets has been recognised in the Conservative manifesto.
Mr Brine made local commuters one of his top priorities in the last Parliament as the MP, and following a public meeting held in 2013, pushed Ministers to bring in part-time season tickets.
The tickets would mean that local people who make regular journeys to London, for example, but not five days per week, would benefit, and Steve heard from a number of Winchester & Chander's Ford residents during this campaign.
Steve said: "I am pleased that this pledge has made our manifesto for the General Election, and I know local commuters will have a keen eye on this one.
"I am also encouraged by news that if we form the next government, we will also introduce smart ticketing, which will save a huge amount of time, as well as requiring train companies to improve compensation arrangements for passengers when trains are more than a few minutes late."
