The popular Winchester restaurant, which has been open for just over a year has been nominated for the Tiffin Cup.
Owner Abdul Kayum (known locally as ‘Miff’) is well-known around Hampshire, having run a number of other restaurants, and has been a BBC Megachef winner. Last year he also cooked with Gordon Ramsey on The F Word.
Speaking after hearing the news, ‘Miff’ said; "I'm absolutely delighted to have been nominated for the Tiffin Cup. This is a great boost to the many local producers that we work very closely with. We try and source as much as possible locally, from our beef and lamb through to much of our veg. We've had a great year since we opened, and I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all of our customers."
Steve Brine added; "As soon as I heard about the Tiffin Club I thought it was an excellent opportunity to recognise local business. We have some fabulous restaurants in Winchester and surrounding villages so it was hard to pick only one. I was delighted to nominate the Bangkok Brasserie for this award; Miff and his team have worked so hard to set up a fantastic restaurant and I know they take real pride in the local supply chain they champion. I wish them all the best in this year's Tiffin Cup, which is always supporting a good cause and this year is no exception."
The Tiffin Cup is awarded by the Tiffin Club, a group of MPs who raise money for charity while celebrating the diversity in British cooking, focussing on the importance of South Asian cuisine. This year the competition will be raising money for the charity World Vision.
