Steve Brine has welcomed a Government announcement that proposals to reduce the testing frequency of MOTs have been dropped.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP joined groups such as the AA, British Cycling and Road Safety GB in backing the decision to retain current arrangements.
Confirming the decision, Transport Minister Justine Greening said: "Having listened closely to the very many views put forward and considered the available evidence, I have decided that I am not going to carry out further work in relation to relaxing the first test date or the frequency of testing."
Steve Brine said: "I know there was a broad coalition against these proposals, which would actually have been dangerous, costs motorists more in insurance and repair costs and in many cases they were opposed by motorists themselves."
