Steve Brine joined stars of the region's charities and not-for-profit organisations at Winchester Guildhall as they received prestigious awards at the 2010 charity 'Oscars' on Thursday 30 September.
The second Wessex Charity Awards, organised by PAS Charity Recruitment, were presented by TV personality Debbie Thrower, and also present was the High Sherriff of Hampshire and the Mayor and Mayoress of Winchester.
One notable winner was Winchester Churches Nightshelter, which walked away with Trustee Board of the Year. The Nightshelter is an independent charity which provides direct access accommodation, hope and help for the homeless in Winchester. They offer support to up to 200 people each year and helps to rebuild their lives and social structures.
Steve said: “This was a very sparkling occasion, and the Guildhall was packed full of very deserving winners and nominees. There were many very informative short films, and I am delighted for Winchester Churches Nightshelter in scooping Trustee Board of the Year.”
Lead Organiser, Jenny Warner, from the Winchester-based recruitment consultancy, PAS Charity Recruitment said: “One of the most important aspects of PAS holding this Awards event is to raise the profile of the fantastic work of local charities. The gala evening has brought attention to the difference they make to people with specific needs in our region. It has been a great pleasure to be organising this prestigious Awards event.”
