Steve Brine MP has met with officials from National Highways for an update on the M3 Junction 9 improvement plan and the impact of the Smart Motorways programme being paused.
The Secretary of State for Transport, Mark Harper MP, recently announced that the Government's rollout of Smart Motorways would be paused for a minimum of five years, until there was enough safety data available.
Knowing that the original M3 Junction 9 Improvement Plan was dependent on the Smart Motorways upgrade, the Winchester and Chandler's Ford MP called National Highways officials to Winchester to meet.
Steve said : "I was glad for the time the team gave me to discuss the impacts of the recent Smart Motorways announcement and even more glad to know that it will still be going ahead. The team informed me that an amended plan is being submitted to planning officials and is expected to be approved soon."
