Winchester MP, Steve Brine, paid a visit to The Pilgrims School today as part of his constituency Friday.
He spent time with Acting Head, Alistair Duncan, and joined some of the boys for lunch to talk politics and parliament before taking a look around the school and seeing some of the music lessons taking place.
Steve says; "Pilgrims is such a special place and the boys are always engaged and pleased to chat with their MP. It was also a chance to catch-up with Mr Duncan ahead of the new Headteacher arriving later this year. One of the topics we had to discuss was the very real threat posed by Labour's spiteful policy of putting VAT on school fees and ending charitable status for independent schools.
"It would pull the drawbridge up behind so many of them, who enjoyed such an education, and it would do real harm to their ability to offer places to children from a diverse range of backgrounds through their often generous bursary schemes."
