The Secretary of State for Education has accepted an invitation to Winchester to hear more about Steve Brine's successful primary school places campaign.
Nicky Morgan, who was promoted to the post in this summer's government reshuffle, agreed to meet Winchester MP Steve Brine in the future so she could learn more about how Hampshire County Council has invested just over £10m in badly-needed new school places across Winchester.
Mr Brine led the campaign, which resulted in the county's first 'all-through' school at Westgate, expanded places at city schools including All Saints and St Peter's, and the creation of a new school on the soon-to-be-developed Barton Farm, which will be established by the University of Winchester Academy Trust.
Steve Brine said: "I am so pleased that Nicky Morgan agreed in the House on Monday to come to Winchester to hear more, as without doubt this was one of the biggest issues to cross my desk in the past four and a half years.
"In addition, I will be delighted to tell her about the new University-led primary at the coming Barton Farm development, and the fact I will be sitting on the Board of Trustees."
