Twenty children from Westgate visited Parliament on Wednesday 16th November, where they took in a tour of the Palace of Westminster and were able to meet up with Steve Brine.
The Winchester MP was delighted to chat to the group, and held a Q&A session for half an hour, where they discussed how he became an MP, why he is a Conservative, the implications of Brexit, trade agreements and Donald Trump.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Brine said: "We go to great lengths to welcome as many school groups as possible to Parliament. I think it's so important and wish my school had visited.
"Hopefully the young people got a good sense of the building and its history from their tour but also the work of a modern day MP from our session together."
Year 8 tutor Hannah Holliday, who led the trip, said: "It was fantastic for students to be in the heart of Parliament and realise how they can get involved. It is so important that we encourage student engagement with politics which I hope this did.
"The students were a pleasure to take on the trip and I hope we have inspired them to get involved in politics in the future."
