The Hampshire Interfaith Network held its 3rd lecture at The Tower Arts Centre tonight but things didn't goto plan!
The speaker was due to be Rabbi Lionel Blue, well know for his appearances on BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day but the Jewish leader did not turn up, leaving organisers a little stumped. That didn’t last long however as a series of speakers from the Network took to the floor and led an interesting evening of discussion around multi-faith issues.
The Network, which is run by Hampshire County Council, has identified two important objectives in building a more respectful interfaith community for working towards a better civil society across Hampshire.
The Network promotes mutual understanding between people of faith through their various representatives and liaises with public service providers to help facilitate better service delivery to hard to reach persons within those faith communities. It is organised by Deputy Leader of HCC, Cllr Roy Perry.
Prospective Winchester MP Steve Brine was at the event, he said; “I have been to the first two Interfaith Network lectures and they are excellent occasions. I think everyone was disappointed not to hear Lionel Blue but everyone made the best of it and the result was a fascinating evening of discussion and thought. It was also excellent to be at The Tower which is thriving under the ownership of Kings School. It was good also to see many of those who didn’t believe in The Tower a year ago enjoying an evening inside its walls!”
Steve Brine TV – Steve made a short-film at the event which you can watch here.
