Thousands of local people braved a very wet and windy morning to visit Winchester Cathedral and experience the thrill of the BBC's Antiques Roadshow.
With some people having arrived at 6am, the ancient cathedral was packed with hordes of residents seeking to get advice and valuations on bric-a-brac and family heirlooms.
BBC star Fiona Bruce was joined by Eric Knowles and a team of around 20, and there was no shortage of interesting items for them to cast their expert eyes over.
Steve popped in on his way to opening the new Basepoint centre in Winnall, and said: “It is wonderful for local people to be given the opportunity to come out and take part in this much-loved programme. The excitement here this morning was very palpable, and it is no surprise that this BBC show is now on its 33rd series.
“Despite the weather, town was packed, and the queues showed just how interested people are in finding out a little more about their antiques, as well as being able to find out that they are worth a little more than they thought.
“I’d like to thank Winchester Cathedral for hosting the event, and I cannot wait to see the show, which I am told will be broadcast early in the New Year.”
