Steve Brine joined Governor of the Bank of England Mervyn King at the University of Winchester on Friday 1st April for the opening of Winchester Business School.
Leading members of Hampshire’s business community also joined Professor King, who also chairs the Monetary Policy Committee, and staff from the University of Winchester at the School’s base in the West Downs Centre on Romsey Road.
The Winchester Business School has recently been refurbished to offer a range of new teaching spaces including the Trevor Baylis intellectual property room and the Trading Room, which is equipped with a stock exchange simulator. The reception also celebrated the launch of the University’s new Hoare Centre for Responsible Management.
Professor Neil Marriot, Director of Winchester Business School, said: “It’s a great honour for the Governor of the Bank of England to take the time to officially open the Winchester Business School.
“The Governor’s role in the health and wellbeing of the UK’s economy is critical, especially in such challenging economic times and Professor Mervyn King has never shied away from making difficult decisions. I hope our students will learn from his example, making choices as modern business leaders that are both responsible and ethical.”
Steve Brine added: “It was fantastic to see Professor King here today, particularly at such an occasion. It is always great to see the exciting developments at the University of Winchester first-hand, and I wish Professor Marriott and his team all the best in the future.”
