Steve Brine has criticised the announcement that commuters are to be hit with an 8% rise in ticket prices.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP, who is a regular commuter himself, commented that local rail passengers were already forced to pay extremely high fares to use the service.
He said: "This kind of rise really grates with me and it will with thousands of the people I represent. From personal experience in recent years I have to say it's generally not a bad service we enjoy here but any further rise at the moment in living costs is most unwelcome."
The increases are due to go through by January 2012.
