David Cameron spoke to Hampshire residents on Monday 26th January as he set out details of the Conservative tax cut plans ahead of the General Election.

The Prime Minister, who was just back from Saudi Arabia, outlined the very clear path towards securing Britain's future, and the importance of the long-term economic plan.

He detailed how, if the Conservatives are elected on 7th May, income tax will only be paid by those earning over £12,500, and how the starting rate for the 40p rate will rise from £41,500 to £50,000.

Before taking questions from the press, he also explained plans for eliminating the deficit, tax-free childcare and ensuring that those who evade tax will continue to be brought to account – set to earn another £5 billion in the next Parliament.

Steve Brine, who was present at the event, said: "The Prime Minister came Hampshire today with the clearest possible message about the choice facing our country in May.

"Of course we haven't solved all our problems but every day the UK is getting stronger because we're sticking to a long term economic plan and its people such as those I represent in Winchester & Chandler's Ford who are feeling the benefit of that.

"The PM set out some of the great things we've achieved, such as raising the income tax allowance, but also laid out gave some more detail about the path we will pursue if he's re-elected in May."
