The government has published a report on the A303/A30/A358 corridor study, which examines the need to take action on the connection between London & the South East and the South West.

The majority of the A303 has now been dualled, but there are still over 35 miles of outdated single-carriageway, which results in congestion, particularly in the summer, delays and unreliable journey times.

The government plans to construct a tunnel to alleviate the damage the existing road does to numerous historical monuments on the route, including Stonehenge, alongside a raft of improvements along the corridor.

Steve Brine said: "My inbox and postbag are testament to the fact that a great number of my constituents are interested in this, and every year when I take the family for a few days in Devon I see that something needs to be done.

"I very much welcome the report, and it makes very interesting reading."
