Unfinished business at railway station

Steve Brine met with representatives from Osborne Property Services on Friday 31st July to discuss the footpath running from the station to Andover Road.

The Winchester MP has worked hard on safe access to the station, and the issue was first raised back in November 2013 at Steve's AskSWT public meeting.

The former Hunts Foodstuffs site had been given money from Hampshire County Council, and while the site is now owned by Osborne, Steve was delighted to hear that the new owners, who are developing a new student accommodation block on the premises, are willing to pick this up and get the improved access back on track.

Steve said: "We've made huge strides in recent years at Winchester Station but this access out onto Andover Road is real unfinished business. There are lots of people at the table so a solution is proving harder than we'd all like but I'm working hard to bring everyone together and get this moving again."
