Steve Brine has welcomed good news for early education in the Budget.

As Chair of the all-party group for Childcare and Early Education our MP has negotiated a £170m uplift in funding paid to early years providers.

Steve Brine says; “The announcement in the Autumn Budget amounts to a quadrupling of the funding secured in the 2020 Spending Review and is something we have campaigned for hard over
the last 12 months. It is however, not a panacea for the problems facing the sector. We have so much more to do supporting our early years educators, ensuring sufficient provision of SEND places
and measures to ensure providers are able to remain open.”

Hampshire Chronicle column - Farewell

Thursday, 30 May, 2024
My final column is perhaps more reflective than usual but I hope you will forgive me as I prepare to formally step down as Parliament is formally Dissolved ahead of the General Election on July 4. Fourteen years ago, in May 2010, I was first elected as our MP.
