Prime Minister David Cameron has paid tribute to Winchester for holding the largest homecoming parade to-date.

He was responding to a question in the House of Commons (at Prime Ministers' Questions, Weds 30 June) from new Winchester MP, Steve Brine.

Mr Brine asked the PM to honour the 650 men and women of 11 Light Brigade and the 64 who did not return home as well as the “thousands of Winchester constituents of mine who showed their gratitude for a job well done”.

He said; "Last week's parade was tremendously moving and important, both as a local and national event. I wanted the Prime Minister to recognise that in the high profile setting of PMQ's but also to put on the record myself the way so many Winchester people came out to say their own personal thank you to 11 Light Brigade."
