Reception year pupil Ellis Gauntlett Boak has been announced as the overall winner of Steve Brine's Christmas Card competition for 2013.
The 4 year old, from Itchen Abbas Primary School, won the annual award with a wonderful depiction of a robin wearing a hat and scarf.
As in previous years, Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine will use the design for all his Christmas cards, sent to the Prime Minister, Buckingham Palace and a wide range of local community groups, public services, charities and local businesses.
Steve was joined in the judging this year by acclaimed local artist, Judy Strafford. In addition to the overall winner, there were prizes for each year group, as well as commendations.
Alexander Roots from Sherborne House School in Chandler's Ford won the Year 1 competition, with Reece McBride from South Wonston Primary winning Year 2. Pupils from Prince's Mead School then took first place in year groups 3-6, with Summer Osborne, Elizabeth Groves, Katie Blatchford and Isabelle Andrews receiving prizes.
There were also commendations for 10 year-old Patrick Berry-Green from South Wonston, Caspar Vincent, 7, from Prince's Mead, and 8 year-old Anastasia Warren from Otterbourne Church of England Primary School.
Steve said: "This is the third year for me Christmas card competition and the standard remains as high as ever. I am hugely grateful to Judy Strafford for judging, as well as the teachers, staff and of course the children who worked so hard to allow this successful event to take place. A special well done to Ellis for his outstanding contribution, this is the first time a Reception Year entry has won first prize and it was richly deserved."
All the finalist's paintings are on display in the children's library at Winchester Discovery Centre until Christmas. This year's first prize is a family ticket to Snow White & Seven Dwarfs courtesy of Winchester Theatre Royal, with Year Group prize winners receiving family tickets to Marwell Zoo courtesy of Marwell Wildlife.
