Steve and his family took in the Alresford Music Festival on Saturday 9th June, on what turned out to be the only sunny day of the whole weekend!

Taking place this year at a new venue, Arlebury Park, the 'Daydream' festival included kids' activities and mini circus acts as well as having a host of local music.

Over 1500 people are thought to have attended, and due to the great turn out the festival will be able to donate a significant amount to two charities, Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation (JDRF) and the Alresford Youth Association.

Steve said: "Many constituents will know I am a keen festival goer but it's usually on a slightly larger scale than this and somewhere in Somerset! But seriously, Alresford is the new Glastonbury for me. Huge festivals have their place but these small, relaxed events are just perfect, especially for those of us with small kids.

"What I love about the Alresford Music Festival is that it's on my doorstep, you don't have to embark on a marathon hike to find it from the car park and when you're in its chilled out and above all, it gives fresh, new and local talent a chance.

"The first band on stage were called Flash Fires, a five-piece from Basingstoke who won the 'Battle of the School Bands' in 2011 and they were great. You could feel their enthusiasm, their ambition and they really set the tone. The line-up was a good mix and I think it had something for everyone, which is important when the entire festival is concentrated in one arena.

"A huge well done to Ken Veitch and his team, to the sponsor First Option and to everyone for supporting this event which I hope is now firmly in the local Summer calendar."
