He is inviting residents from Winchester and surrounding areas to quiz him on Friday 14 November 2008 in the event which will take place at Kings School on Romsey Road in central Winchester starting just after 6pm. Places at the event are free and open to all local residents.
Winchester Conservatives have been inundated with applications for tickets, which are now closed. The event will however, be broadcast live on the internet via www.selfcast.com/conservatives and you can also watch it back on this site anytime afterwards.
Speaking ahead of the event, David Cameron said; "I am delighted there has been so much interest in Friday’s event at Kings School. The point of these meetings is to hear directly from people about their opinions and concerns and I am really looking forward to meeting people in Winchester and answering their questions."
Steve Brine, Prospective Conservative MP for Winchester added; “The Cameron Direct event is a wonderful opportunity for people in Winchester - whatever their political persuasion - to come along and raise their issues, questions and concerns with David Cameron.
“I know people in Winchester and the surrounding area want to know more from the Conservatives and hear what we mean by fixing Britain’s broken society, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, protecting our area from over-development and ensuring we have a thriving local NHS. I am really pleased David has chosen to come to Winchester and look forward to a lively debate."
