Visit of Conservative leader helps raise vital money for BBC Appeal.

David Cameron visited Winchester recently (Nov 14) for a packed public meeting held at Kings School.

The Conservative leader brought his Cameron Direct event to the city on the same night as the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal and a collection was held among the 350 members of the public attending.

Steve Brine, prospective Conservative parliamentary candidate for Winchester organised the event and said; “It was an excellent evening and the feedback from members of the public who attended or watched it back online since has been really positive.

"As soon as we knew the date of David’s visit coincided with Children in Need night we looked out the collecting buckets and I am delighted to say thanks to the generosity of local people we have sent a cheque for £260 to the BBC Children in Need Appeal for 2008."
