Steve Brine is backing Climate Week, a national event where thousands of organisations will share ideas and encourage others to act on climate change over 2011.

This year, Climate Week will take place between 21st-27th March, and Steve has written to schools and colleges in the area encouraging them to take part.

He said: “At the moment, the news agenda is dominated by the appalling economic issues we are facing as a country. However, while we are, rightly, addressing how we tackle the deficit as a short-term priority, it’s important to hold at the forefront of our minds that climate change is not going away just because it is getting fewer headlines.

“If anything, it is even more important that we continue to get the message across, and to that end I am delighted to support Climate Week. I know that thousands of people will be united across the country in trying to make a difference that week to influence the actions of others for the coming year.

“I have written to local schools and colleges to promote the idea to them, and would be delighted to hear from anyone locally who is looking to take part.”
