Colden Common Community Centre celebrated Village Halls Week on 25th January with an open day and community lunch, and was pleased to receive a visit from local MP Steve Brine, who toured the various local community groups exhibiting at the Centre and enjoyed a game of table tennis with his son.

The Centre also took advantage of the event to announce its new sponsor, Winchester Bourne Limited, a local company which provides business accounting services to companies.

Organised by the ACRE Network, Village Halls Week runs from 20th to 26th January and visitors to Colden Common Community Centre were able to have a game of table tennis and a community lunch on Saturday 25th January to enable the local community to get together with fellow villagers and see what goes on in the centre.

Colden Common Community Centre is a thriving, friendly venue for a variety of community activities, classes and events, which has served the residents of Colden Common and surrounding areas for over 25 years. The Community Centre is maintained and run by the Trustee Committee of Colden Common Community Association, a registered charity.

The sponsorship provided by Winchester Bourne will enable the Community Centre to maintain the Centre and continue to provide services and amenities for local residents.

Sarah Chadbourne, managing director of Winchester Bourne, said: “The ACRE Network has asked candidates in the 2019 general election to support rural people and communities everywhere, and we are delighted to work with Colden Common Community Centre and support its work for the local community.”

Community Centre Manager, Vanessa Martin, said: “We were delighted that Steve Brine took time from his busy schedule to visit us. The support from Winchester Bourne will enable us to carry out repairs to the Centre, as well as maintain our range of annual and weekly events and activities.”

Hampshire Chronicle column - Farewell

My final column is perhaps more reflective than usual but I hope you will forgive me as I prepare to formally step down as Parliament is formally Dissolved ahead of the General Election on July 4. Fourteen years ago, in May 2010, I was first elected as our MP.
