MP Steve Brine has welcomed new Government funding to support community transport services, and urged local providers in Winchester & Chandler's Ford to bid for support.
In total there will be £25 million of new support to provide hundreds of voluntary community transport providers with new minibuses.
Community bus services are a vital part of communities, providing transport for people who do not have access to conventional public transport or who are unable to use it, for example for health or mobility reasons.
This new fund will give them the opportunity to get a new minibus to expand, or to replace an old one, and any community transport provider will be able to bid for one vehicle, with smaller operators and those in rural or isolated areas favoured.
Mr Brine said: "We already have some excellent community minibus services running in my constituency, such as that run by the Alresford Town Trust, but this could be really welcome news locally and see new routes opened up. I would urge groups locally to visit the website and take this opportunity to bid for our share of the money."
