Any genuine constituents (organised campaigns need not apply) interested in my view on the Dominic Cummings story, should email me. I haven't commented so far because, frankly, my experience suggests it is generally better to pause, think and (at least try) to ascertain the facts before replying to constituents.

Very clear to me we've all made sacrifices and we must all adhere to the letter - and spirit - of the law and the guidance. This is a painfully difficult time when the Government is trying to safely ease the restrictions on our lives and it needs to retain public trust more than ever.

I have this lunchtime raised my concerns about Mr Cumming’s behaviour with the Government Chief Whip but ultimately it is for the Prime Minister to decide the future of his senior advisors.

Hampshire Chronicle column - Farewell
