The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP visited Winchester Dementia Cafe at Littleton Millennium Hall, a monthly event run by The Alzheimer's Society. The event was packed with over fifty carers, people with dementia, volunteers and staff, and the cafe provides information and friendship, as well as peer support, for both carers and those living with dementia.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "What a fantastic idea this is, and it was a pleasure to meet so many people, as well as speak to some old friends. Winchester Dementia Cafe is such a good idea, and it was clear as day to me just how valuable the service is, not only for people with dementia, but crucially, also for carers.
"The Alzheimer's Society is leading the way in the fight against dementia, and I know from my work in the House just how keen the Prime Minister is to tackle this dreadful condition. I hope it won't be too long before I am invited back for a nice cup of tea!"
