Steve Brine and his family joined over 300 delegates attending the Home-Start in Hampshire's early years, early intervention conference at the Winchester Guildhall on 13th March.

The event, which was a sell-out, was presented by Alastair Stewart, from ITV News, and heard from a range of speakers including Camila Batmanghelidgh, the founder of Kids Company, Dr Alain Gregoire, Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist and Maternal Mental Health Alliance Chair, and Rob Parkinson, Chief Executive, Home-Start UK.

Home-Start in Hampshire is a consortium of 12 local Home-Start's providing a service to families across Hampshire, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. With over 500 trained volunteers, Home-Start schemes in Hampshire offer personalised support to over 1,000 families every year.

Steve has a strong relationship with the group, and spoke to a large group of members and volunteers at their AGM in 2013.

Speaking afterwards, he said: "This important conference was so topical and relevant and delivered in so many ways. The fact the Guildhall was packed spoke volumes and those of us attending were fascinated to hear smart presentations around the early years agenda. I was especially interested to hear the work around mental health and its impact on child development.

"Home Start have done really well to bring this event together and deserve much credit."
