Steve Brine visited Tower House Horses near Micheldever Station to celebrate a recent award via the National Lottery Community Fund.

The funding will be used to deliver equine assisted learning for people living with poor mental health, a project linked to NHS ‘social prescribing’ through Awards for All. The project aims to relieve the effects of depression and anxiety, improve confidence and self-esteem and rebuild emotional resilience.

The MP met with CEO Susie Little and her horses.

Steve Brine says; “It’s heartening to see the work Susie and her co-director Jo do at Tower House Horses and I’m so thankful they’ve been recognised and supported by the National Lottery Community Fund. The work they do with vulnerable individuals is truly inspirational and I cannot praise the setting they have enough.”

Susie says; “We are delighted that Awards for All funding enables us to offer the therapeutic benefits of time spent with our horses to those who are struggling with anxiety, depression and isolation, particularly as a result of the effects of the pandemic.  Our “Horses Change Minds” programme is now up and running and we are already seeing  the huge impact it is having on people’s mental health and wellbeing.  Thank you to Steve for taking the time to show his support for this project.”

Hampshire Chronicle column - Farewell

Thursday, 30 May, 2024
My final column is perhaps more reflective than usual but I hope you will forgive me as I prepare to formally step down as Parliament is formally Dissolved ahead of the General Election on July 4. Fourteen years ago, in May 2010, I was first elected as our MP.
