Steve Brine joined a group of thousands as Winchester welcomed home our troops from the front line on Monday 22nd July.

Around 160 troops from the Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment, known as the Tigers, paraded through the city in the searing heat, as well-wishers lined the streets and took advantage of a number of vantage points across town.

The troops set off from Peninsula Barracks and made their way down the High Street, before an inspection took place on the Broadway, where Dame Mary Fagan, Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, took the formal salute.

Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "After the parade a reporter from BBC Radio Solent asked me what I thought as I stood there and I had to say, not least as someone whose Grandfather served in the Royal Hampshire Regiment during WW2, it was sheer pride and thanks for what they do on our behalf.

"It was yet another fantastic Winchester occasion and in spite of the heat, local people turned out to support in their droves."

The Tigers were accompanied by the band of the Corps of Royal Engineers.
