Using the water power from the Mill, the system will have a number of important benefits for wildlife and the environment, including allowing the safe passage of fish and eels, with the likelihood that White Clawed Crayfish will colonise the mill race steps.
Alresford MP Steve Brine said: "I was delighted to visit recently and meet with David Fitzgerald who has worked really hard on this. For me, I am delighted that the scheme will generate 'Green' electricity, and no generation of Carbon Dioxide will occur- in fact, anywhere between 35-50 tons of CO2 per year will be saved.
"I know the Environment Agency has licensed and approved the project, and wish David all the best, particularly in bring new tourists to the town."
