A shop on Stockbridge Road which had been selling so-called 'legal highs' has been forced to close following a court judgement on Friday 18th December.

Steve Brine, who campaigned strongly against the shop, which worried a large number of local families, welcomed the case, which went uncontested by the defendant.

In this case, the police used Anti-Social Behaviour legislation to instigate proceedings, while Mr Brine is now looking forward to the Psychoactive Substances Bill which is making its way through Parliament.

He said: "This is excellent news. There's widespread concern among families I represent about these shops and these lethal substances. I hope this sends a clear message.

"The coming Psychoactive Substances legislation I've been involved with will I hope be belt and braces on these shops and avoid the hit and miss use of anti-social behaviour legislation that it has taken to close this one."
