Last year, the event raised £8494, which was used for the upkeep of the historic village church and to fund help in the community work which provides support and care to local people in need. While the fete is about the village coming together, at the Lord Rank Playing Field on Duke Street, and enjoying something as a community, it is hoped that this year was similarly successful.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "This is in so many ways the classic English fair. Where else do you see Splat the Rat and other timeless favourites? A huge well done to Juliet Pattison and the team, and it was great to see that so many local residents, and councillors such as Malcolm Wright, were at the event this afternoon."
