Residents express anger as 'Red Marley' application comes back before planners as Prospective MP takes a look.

A controversial development site is back before city council planners after its owner submitted plans for four new houses – for a second time.

The ‘Red Marley’ site (pictured) at the junction of Nations Hill and Springvale Road, Kings Worthy has been up for consideration before but was thrown out by officers before it even reached the formal planning development control committee.

Prospective Winchester MP Steve Brine visited the site with Cllr Stan Howell on Saturday morning to see for himself what is being proposed and talk to neighbours in the area.

“Kings Worthy has been in the aim of fire for developers as long as anyone can remember.  Sometimes it is entirely appropriate and helps develop a site that needed attention while providing new and much needed homes for local people.  But more often than not is over-development that is out of place and out of step with the local community.  The proposed Red Marley development falls into the latter category in my view and I fully support residents who are very concerned about it.  In this case I have every faith the officers at WCC will see sense and listen to local opinion."
