Plans for a permanent motorcross site were heard at a public meeting in Littleton Monday evening.

Residents in South Wonston are gearing up to oppose plans for a permanent motorcross scrambling site near to Three Maids Hill.

Organisers gained a temporary five-year licence to put on races at Down Farm in 2004 but are now asking the city council if they can host them permanently.  South Wonston Parish Council says the scheme will be one of the most contentious in the village for some time.

Last Night (Monday 16 March 2009) the site owners and operators held a packed public meeting at Littleton Memorial Hall to discuss their plans with residents and users.

Prospective Winchester MP Steve Brine was there and addressed the meeting; “The level of concern from residents was audible and understandable. The applicants have been given some excellent suggestions out of the meeting this evening and a very clear message that they must address the noise issue to continue with the level of activity they have already let alone increase it in the way proposed by this application.

"At the end of the day it is currently an unbalanced relationship with local people or put another way all pain and very little gain.  Fortunately this is an open and democratic process, I would urge residents from all the surrounding areas to have their say."

Local Councillors Stephen Godfrey, Malcolm Wright and Barry Lipscomb also attended the meeting to listen to residents' views.

Links to the application in full will be available here shortly ...
