Steve Brine met up with Cancer Research UK on Monday 5th October as the charity held a special stand at Conservative Party Conference.
The MP spoke to the team about how cancer affects his Winchester & Chandler's Ford constituency, and found out more about how the charity is working to beat cancer sooner.
Steve, who co-chaired the All-Party Group for Breast Cancer before he became PPS to the Health Secretary, discussed how an individual's life time risk of cancer is rising and now one in two people will be diagnosed within their lifetime.
He said: "Progress really is being made, but it has to be said that our cancer outcomes still lag behind comparable countries. While we do meet in Parliament, it was extremely useful to chat to the team here at Conference, and fascinating to take part in their 'pinball' game, which was very demonstrative of how their researchers look at DNA and cancer drugs."
