Steve Brine MP has drawn special attention to diabetes this week, as he spoke at a reception for Diabetes UK and focused on the subject during the most recent episode of his podcast.
Diabetes UK have recently published the 13,000+ responses to their ‘Diabetes is Serious’ survey which is calling on the Government to take action to ensure diabetes isn't left out of the conversation.
Many of the responses highlight experiences of receiving care and treatment in 2022 along with NHS data on diabetes care. Steve Brine, who spoke as Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, highlighted the need to prioritise routine diabetes checks and fulfil the opportunities for prevention of type 2 diabetes.
The event was followed up by the newest episode of ‘Prevention is the new cure’, a podcast hosted by Steve Brine MP and Dame Helen-Stokes Lampard which focuses on all things health and NHS, with a political twist.
This week saw Chris Askew, Chief Executive of Diabetes UK, join Steve and Helen to have an in-depth discussion about all things diabetes especially prevention and issues around type 2.
