Steve Brine visited the newly refurbished St Mark’s building in Oliver’s Battery after they recently held a small celebration event following a successful fundraiser.
The MP caught up with curate, Revd Marianne Foster, to hear about the work at St Mark’s and their new community initiative, which Steve saw for himself.
Every Friday morning St Mark’s plays host to a community café for local residents and parishioners to have a drink and chat with others.
Steve Brine MP said; “The Re.vive Cafe is proving a huge success and so much of that is down to the new energy Rev Foster is bringing to the area. It was a pleasure to grab a cuppa and catch-up with her about this initiative and the many other projects taking place in the parish at this time, including the future of St Luke’s in Stanmore.”
Revd Marianne Foster added; “ We were glad to host Steve at our community café on Friday. Re.vive cafe is run by the community and for the community at St Mark's church. It is more than just coffee and cake, it's also a gathering place offering members of the community a safe space in which to connect and socialise with each other.”
