Steve Brine MP spent a morning away from Winchester to visit a Southern Water 'Pathfinder' project in Thruxton, near Andover.
The issue of water, and in particular combined storm overflows (CSOs) which can trigger discharges into rivers and the seas, has dominated recent debates in Parliament with MPs from both sides of the House of Commons committed to tackling the issue.
Southern Water's 'Pathfinder' is seeking to find a way to partially tackle this issue, as they're working to find a solution to the role high groundwater levels play in overwhelming sewer systems. Another 'Pathfinder' on the Isle of Wight is looking at a different side of the issue.
Steve said : "I am determined to understand what is an extremely complex issue and I'm very thankful for the time Southern Water gave me this morning. It's hugely impressive teamwork, covering private properties as well as SW's own networks, from their Pan Parish Forum which brings together a number of parish councils.
