Steve Brine visited Chandler's Ford on Friday 6th October as he met up for the first time with new Headteacher Su Whelan.
Based on Winchester Road, Thornden is an oversubscribed school with just over 1400 students, and is rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. The school's exam results alongside the progress students make during their time at Thornden are consistently very high when compared to county and national standards, and their extends to the wider enrichment opportunities that are on offer to young people, helping them to work together on effectively building the skills they need for their future through a range of activities during and beyond the school day.
Steve Brine MP said: "This was the first time I have met Su Whelan but I've been to Thornden many times and it's always a pleasure.
"We had a good walk round the school and wide-ranging chat about standards, recruitment, the eBacc and Thornden's role working around initial teacher training."
