Announcement equivalent to 'taking 200,000 cars off the road'.
Winchester Conservative MP Steve Brine is delighted that the government has embraced the 10:10 campaign to reduce the entire carbon footprint of central government by 10% in a year.
Speaking after David Cameron made the announcement with new Energy and Climate Change Minister Chris Huhne, Steve said: “I was not in the least bit surprised to see David Cameron push this in his first few days as Prime Minister and I am delighted. We have worked hard locally to ensure Winchester City Council and now Hampshire County Council are signed up and now we have this commitment from the very top.”
