New Winchester MP Steve Brine headed for Fullflood on his first weekend since the election to support the St Paul’s Community Celebration, on Saturday 8 May 2010.
Joined by his young family and Popcorn the dog they popped into the event at St Paul’s Church on St Paul’s Hill which was opened by comedian actor Hugh Dennis.
The event was part of the ongoing project to raise funds for the building and more details can be seen via www.stmatthewsandstpauls.org.uk. You can also donate via this site to help the project on its way.
Steve Brine hopped into the stocks for a session dodging the wet sponges to help the fundraising efforts; “I’m always up for a laugh”, he says. “They raised the ticket price to have a throw at the new MP and although it was freezing I hope it helped the team raise some much needed cash. This community is really strong and so much of that credit must go to Rev Peter Seal and Julia for their outstanding leadership. I have worked with them for years as the candidate and look forward to really taking that forward as the MP.”
