Steve took his young son William to Winchester Cathedral on Saturday 25th January as they visited the ‘fantastic’ Pilgrim Grounds Art Installation.

The Labyrinth Art Space is open from 11:00-16:00 throughout the project, and invites anyone, of any age, to be a part of creating a giant labyrinth in the nave made up of used coffee grounds and coffee-related sustainable materials.

The installation will culminate on Wednesday 29th January from 19:00 when Dean Catherine and others will speak about Pilgrim Grounds before Winchester’s own Brian Draper guide those walking the labyrinth art installation.

The event was also touched by the splendour of live choral music by Index Cantorum, who returned to give a performance of Thomas Tallis’ 40 voice masterwork Spem in alium alongside other polychoral works that relate to the theme of ‘pilgrimage’.  The work dates back to the era of Elizabeth I.

Hampshire Chronicle column - Farewell

Thursday, 30 May, 2024
My final column is perhaps more reflective than usual but I hope you will forgive me as I prepare to formally step down as Parliament is formally Dissolved ahead of the General Election on July 4. Fourteen years ago, in May 2010, I was first elected as our MP.
