Prospective Winchester MP Steve Brine, joined by his wife Susie, attended a special film screening hosted by Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC).
The event, held at Winchester’s Discovery Centre on Saturday October 3, gave invited guests the opportunity to view the critically acclaimed climate change film from Franny Armstrong starring Pete Postlethwaite. The decorated actor stars as a man living alone in the devastated future world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?
The screening was followed by a brief discussion involving those guests able to stay and chat.
Steve Brine commented; “I still think it is a (dare I say) stupid title that doesn’t assist the fight against climate change one bit but this is a powerful and deeply affecting film that deserves much more credit than its title suggests. I would love everyone to see it because the effect would be huge, especially ahead of the critical Copenhagen Summit in December 2009.
“Once again all credit to WinACC for taking the trouble to hire the venue, get the film and put on the event.”
