Benedict Southworth, Chief Executive of the Ramblers, explained: "On the 24th April 1932, more than 400 ramblers made their way across Kinder Scout in the Peak District and clashed with gamekeepers during an organised trespass. Several were jailed but their protest succeeded in highlighting the issue of public access to Britain's privately owned countryside, and eventually led to the creation of National Parks and walkers' right to roam."
Steve Brine added: "I know there are many Ramblers across my constituency, and have received already a number of emails highlighting this to me.
