A close-knit community turned out in force this weekend to raise funds for their local churches and have some fun!

Saturday May 9 saw the launch of phase 2 of the Building for Life appeal at St Pauls Church in Fullflood, Winchester.

Hundred of local people turned out, to enjoy the glorious sunshine and raise vitally needed funds.  There was a book-sale, plant-sale, cake stand, tombola, teas and refreshments as well as challenges set by the Greening Fulflood campaign.  The scouts were on hand to provide challenges for the more energetic visitors and a bouncy castle kept the smaller kids amused.

Organisers report a successful event and raised £5900 on the day, with over 800 people attending the event. Bishop Trevor of Basingstoke and the mayor of Winchester opened the event by raising the Building for Life flag and cutting a cake made for the occasion.

Prospective Winchester MP Steve Brine popped along for the much of the morning with his 18-month old daughter, Emily.  He said; “"The effort and enthusiasm the St Pauls community put into this fundraising effort is impressive. Their record speaks for itself after phase one, I have no doubt they will raise what they need to make phase two a reality. My daughter Emily and I had a great time this morning and the cakes were marvelous!"
