The MP for Winchester & Chandler's Ford, Steve Brine, is supporting Fixers to be crowned 'UK's Best Charity' at the National Lottery Awards 2014.

Steve is championing Fixers, a national charity based in Winchester, to raise awareness of the 13,000 young people that Fixers have worked with on around 1,500 projects since the charity was founded in 2008.

Steve has commended the work of 82 young people in Winchester and Chandler's Ford who have raised awareness of a diverse range of issues including, mental health, suicide, chronic fatigue syndrome, and bullying.

Steve said: "I've followed Fixers closely these past four years, met Fixers and hosted them in Parliament to tell the Fixers story to many other MPs. They are a terrific national charity, based in Winchester I am proud to say and they make every penny work so hard by staying true to their foundation. They deserve this recognition without question."

Steve highlighted that the National Lottery Awards 2014 was an opportunity for the public 'to get behind Fixers and vote for them' to ensure that more young have the chance to tackle important issues in their communities.

Young people from Winchester and Chandler's Ford and all around the UK have been working with Fixers – a charity that supports young people aged 16-25 to tackle any issue that matters to them, however they choose – to get their message across.

Fixers works with young people across the UK. Each Fixer is supported by the charity's team of in-house team of creative professionals to produce a resource to get their chosen message across. Many young people choose to create a short film, website, poster campaign, information leaflet, or hold an event or flashmob.

Fixers has already supported over 13,000 young people across the UK to have an authentic voice in their community.

Young people have campaigned on issues with Fixers as diverse as cyber-bullying, self-harm, suicide and the need for more random acts of kindness.
