Winchester MP Steve Brine joined David Cameron, the Israel ambassador and over 600 guests at the Park Plaza Hotel on Monday 13th December.

Mr Cameron used the annual lunch event to congratulate the CFI’s “absolutely invaluable” work, particularly the arrangements it makes for trips to Israel.

He confirmed his strong belief in a two-state solution, and added that settlement building was an ‘obstacle to peace’ while the future security of the region would not come through fighting a ‘war of attrition’.

The Prime Minister also stated that being a friend of Israel meant solidarity, honesty and respect, in standing up for Israel, being frank and also taking the opportunity to learn from the nation.

He went on to commend Israel for its sense of history and country, and said we need ‘more of that in the UK’.
