Steve Brine met up with Clive Cook, new head of St John's Almshouses, on Friday 11th April, to discuss the future, the management of the charity and its work with the Chesil Theatre over the community facility on Chesil Street.

A Cambridge graduate, Clive was a partner at Baker and McKenzie, the world's second largest law firm, and has also lived and worked in Singapore, New York, and Budapest.

Steve and Clive also took a look (pictured) at 108 Colebrook Street which is owned by the charity and sits empty at present.

Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "I am tremendously proud of the St Johns Charity which has been in existence since the 10th century.

"I knew the previous Director well and we'd meet from time to time so it was useful to meet Clive and get to know each other. I think the charity is in good hands and look forward to working with him, especially on the empty Colebrook Street property which is big space sadly just sitting unused in the heart of Winchester."
